Course Objective
The Foundations for Counselling Ministry (FCM) school is designed to equip you with an essential understanding of Biblical counselling skills for walking alongside others. This 11-week school prepares you to support others in everyday life, addressing the brokenness within and around us. By first exploring your own heart, you’ll learn to minister to the hurting, heal the broken, and restore the lost. This journey fosters personal wholeness, enabling you to guide others toward healing and restoration effectively.
Designed For
This course is ideal for individuals who have completed a Discipleship Training School (DTS) and are passionate about walking alongside others and becoming equipped with some basic counselling skills. If you’re eager to facilitate healing and growth in others while experiencing personal transformation, FCM offers an immersive experience to enrich your ministry journey, even if becoming a counsellor is not your goal.

Field Assignment
Once you have completed the 3-month course, you will also have the opportunity to do an optional 3-month FCM field assignment.
Completing the lecture phase alone is considered a full and complete program. However, for those who wish to study further with the UofN in this area, the outreach phase is required. While many participants choose to join for just the 3-month lecture phase, we highly recommend the outreach experience for its invaluable personal and spiritual growth opportunities. The field assignment helps you solidify what you have learned by stepping into a role of walking alongside people and applying all the tools learned.
There are many different options for the location and focus of the field assignment so it can be tailored to each student’s areas of interest.
