OUR HEART

Pursuing The Call

Dear Friends,

One of YWAM's original logos featured a young person running with a torch at its center. A few years ago, Al Akimoff, one of YWAM's early pioneers in Eastern Europe, explained why YWAM uses torches instead of batons as metaphors for vision. In a relay race, as seen in the 2024 Olympic Games, a runner passes the baton and stops running, having completed their part. But in YWAM, we view multigenerational ministry differently. We don't pass on the vision to the next generation and then step aside. Instead, leaders and pioneers continue to pursue God's call on their lives, using their torches to ignite the passion of those who follow, while still holding fast to the vision God has given them.

At YWAM Lausanne, we love to embrace this metaphor. Our mission is to ignite the torch in the hearts of the hundreds of young people who come through YWAM Lausanne each year, inspiring them for global missions. We believe that we can do this most effectively when each of our leaders and staff holds steadfast to the vision God has placed on our hearts - to see the knowledge of God's glory cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

May God continue to bless you as you hold fast to His vision.

OUTREACH

Paris Olympics Outreach

Paris Olympics Outreach

This year we sent outreach teams, staff and students to join and support YWAM Paris Connect during the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This is a continuation of the heart to reach all nations, combined with the strategy to meet the nations at this globally loved sporting event that began in Munich 1972. Here's one of the many beautiful reports that came out of this exciting event:

"Being in Paris was such a wonderful experience for me, but at the same time it was very harsh spiritual war. Evangelism is very challenging for me since I will have great afraid of approaching to strangers to talk about gospel. I would be unconsciously behind of others (like hiding behind people) to not talk to people. It was the second day of evening evangelism, I was with Sam and we were finding people to talk to. Sam found a woman sitting and she looked like she was of the Muslim background because of what she was wearing. She's from Algeria. She couldn't speak English and Sam used a translator to continue the conversation.

While having conversation with her, she was very open and that surprised me a lot. When we asked her if we can pray in the name of Jesus, she accepted it without hesitation, and asked if she can take video of praying. We prayed for her prayer points, and she filmed the video of me praying in English for her. I felt that my English was not good enough, and she might not understand all the words, but I could feel that something was happening that can't be expressed in words. We were also able to share the Gospel with her. The time we spent with them was very precious. I don't fully know the reason God gave me the chance to talk with the woman, but I can understand a bit why He gave me that opportunity for me to experience that He does work and He is working."

IN CLOSING

Thank You

God has been so faithful through our ministry expansion. A key focus of our expansion is our ongoing work in North Africa. We currently have roughly 150 refugee participants in our summer workshops. In the Fall we will be running our second DTS in the region. To make this possible for more participants, we invite you to contribute to our scholarship fund. Your support will help individuals from the region join the DTS and be equipped for missions. You can give here.

Thank you

On behalf of the whole YWAM Lausanne family,
Thank you for partnering with us in all that God is doing here, blessings!
