# Reflecting on the Past, Embracing the Future Together

In between our summer and fall programs we have a window of time for our annual staff retreat. Each year these moments look a little different depending on what we sense theLord inviting us to focus on. As we prayerfully prepared for the retreat therewas a clear emphasis on building the future together.

We began our time by looking back at the story of YWAM Lausanne. We reflected on the two sets for 25 years, both initiated by pioneering and re-pioneering. We understood the critical moment we are in as we are in the 3rd set of 25 years which were inaugurated by the campus expansion in 2019. Filled with faith we then envisioned what the future of YWAM Lausanne could look like. It was a wonderfully chaotic moment where staff shared, around their tables, all kinds of ideas, visions and dreams of what they would love to build in the future at YWAM Lausanne. The discussion of vision felt like it brought a fresh wind into our sails. The room was filled with anticipation and expectation of the many ways we could build the future together with God.

This year marks56 years of ministry for YWAM Lausanne. These five decades tell an incredible story of loaded with miracles, ministries, guidance, pioneering efforts, and expansion projects. As a result, YWAM Lausanne today is a significant ministry. At the staff retreat we felt like the Lord wanted to encourage us with the reality of what it takes to continue to build on Lausanne’s rich foundation. To support and expand YWAM Lausanne the Lord first needs to take us deeper. As we prayed and worshiped God gave us hope that he is committed and responsible for our character growth and the growth of our ministry.

The weekend was full of deep relationally bonding moments, whether that was lingering conversations around the meal table or heart-to-heart talks along the mountain trails. Reflecting on the stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps we were all revitalized and challenged. Each staff member returned from the time away refreshed and inspired by what God has in store. Envisioning what is to come and imagining our role in it bolstered our team’s commitment to one another and our commitment to see the earth “Filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Hab 2:14).

‍

We are always looking to expand our team! If you sense God calling you to cross-cultural missions—whether for a season or a lifetime—we’d love to connect with you. Joining staff at YWAM Lausanne means becoming part of a vibrant international missional community dedicated to knowing God and making Him known from the heart of Switzerland.
