A Vision For the Future

In our quarterly rhythm, there are two significant moments we all anticipate. That is our Kingdom Come outreach and our Prayer Day. Both are day-long activities where we take what we do frequently and concentrate it into a single day. This emphasis is the fruit of our call to know God and make him known. It’s a rhythm of breathing in the life of God and breathing out a loving witness of him to those around us.

Last week, during our prayer day, God met us in a special way. Throughout the day, we prayed for our focused outreach locations, the nation of Switzerland, and our city. However, in the morning, as we sat around tables earnestly seeking the Lord, both as staff and students, for what He is speaking to us at YWAM Lausanne, the word came through shockingly clear. Several groups had a clear image of YWAM Lausanne as a lighthouse and a source of living water. The impression was that the overflow of a healthy community within YWAM Lausanne brings blessing both to our city and the nations. As we continue to cultivate a healthy community and serve the lost and the needy, God will continue to draw in workers for his harvest. Twice, we clearly had Isaiah 58, which highlights the call to open doors in hospitality, let living waters flow from within, and serve others. There was a clear call to push off passivity and embrace humility, servanthood, and a willingness to be disrupted for God’s purposes, each taking responsibility for the health and vision of our ministry. There was deep confirmation of this new season as we all arise.

We all left the day encouraged and inspired that God is with us to continue to build this ministry into the future. Certain prayer days seem to leave an imprint on the story of YWAM Lausanne; this certainly seemed to be one of them.

Outreach

On Earth as it is in Heaven

At the Kingdom Come event, one of the team members noticed a man who had just received a Bible and sat down to talk with him. The man shared that he had gone through ten difficult years of unemployment and was struggling to find purpose.

The team member shared how Jesus had changed his own life, and the man expressed his longing for a similar encounter with God. As they prayed, he opened his new Bible and began to read. Almost immediately, he started to weep, saying he felt something he had never experienced before. He recognized it as a deep touch from God and shared how he had been longing for this kind of spiritual encounter.

He stayed for the entire event—worship, testimonies, and fellowship—and at the end of the day, he returned with a big hug, saying how meaningful the whole experience had been. It was a powerful moment of God at work through His Word and the sharing of testimonies.
